    Sew Mad Bags

    1-2 Day class

    Take a break and sew a Sew-Mad Bag. Use your sewing machine decorative stitches to embellish fun random size patches. Then turn your new fabric into a handbag. This is total playtime!
    Sewing machine required.

    Pattern Fee: Tote Bag Pattern — $8.00, Hobo Bag Pattern — $12.00 (includes hardware)

    Supplies

    Fabrics

    • 3-5 fat quarter yards in your favorite colors
    • 2-3 zingers fabrics (accents) These could be quarter yards or scraps
    • A quarter yard (not a fat quarter) for handles
    • A half yard backing fabric This fabric will be covered with other fabrics and never seen. ( I prefer a cotton upholstery weight fabric for stability. )
    • A half yard for lining ( Select a lining fabric or light weight cotton. Colors may match or accent.
    • Hobo Bag only — 1 quarter yards for top ruffle (not a fat quarter)
    • Hobo Bag only — A quarter yard stiff interfacing (Craft Fuse, Décor Bond, Fuse A Shade, or Buckram)

    Thread

    Solid or multi-colored cotton or polyester only. No Rayon thread. Choose both matching and accent colors.

    Optional

    • Lace, ribbon, trim, cording for accents
    • Solid or multi-colored perle cotton or thin yarn for accents.
    • Buttons, sequins, purchased appliques
    • Tote Bag only — 34” x 16” of batting
    • Tote Bag only — Velcro or large snaps for closures
