Free motion and couched machine appliqué give you the freedom to create what you dream with no turn under seam allowance, no unruly satin stitch and no excess bulk. These simple techniques use yarns, floss and machine appliqué to smoothly cover all edges cleanly and neatly. You can accentuate your appliqué or blend your edges.

3" x 18" strip for star rays

Thread to match fabrics

Neutral thread for bobbin

3" x 18" fusible webbing (Wonder Under, etc.)

Press cloth

Freezer paper or template material

Pencil

Basic sewing kit including pins

Scissors--fabric and template

Appliqué scissors (optional)

Rotary cutter, ruler, mat (optional)
